Thank you to my loyal fans! You are what keeps me going. It is amazing to know that I have people who are anxiously waiting for my books to release as I am anxiously writing them!

A HUGE thank you to my Alpha Team. They truly took on the challenge of dealing with the ramblings of my ideas, reading through each chapter to ensure that things were flowing the way they needed to, and I did not create plot holes. You guys kept me grounded and brought out the best version of myself as a writer. Words cannot express how much I appreciate you guys.

  Chapter One: Atara

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE MARKINGS ON ME?!” Atara screamed. She was standing in front of the mirror on Zara’s wall with her back displaying inside of it. Her blood rushed through her veins as her heart raced at the sight of her reflection.

How did I get this? She asked herself.

It was three weeks after the ceremony and Zara and Atara moved into the castle. Zara had Cyrus’s, the Royal Quarters, room redone and had the Lunar Coven help complete a cleansing ritual. The room now was decorated with the phases of the moon around the ceiling that was painted on a night sky. There were marble wolf statues and other paintings of wolves howling or running with a pack. The colors of the room were blues and purples with the curtains and bedspread. Atara loved the changes and even done something similar in her own room.

Tobias was sprawled out across their king-sized bed; reading a newspaper and trying to ignore his sister-in-law and mate. His red hair was vibrant in the midday light and the green in his eyes was more dominant than the brown. He would occasionally lift the paper and give Zara a once over. Every so often, Zara would catch her mate looking at her and would smile at him. Atara grown accustomed to Tobias being wherever Zara was unless Atara shooed him away for some sister time. Surprisingly, he would normally chuckle, kiss Zara on her forehead, and walk away with no argument.

Zara was standing next to the mirror in her black cotton, loose fitting pants and her black tank top. Atara noticed that Zara wore the Elemental attire when she was out of the castle, but while she was relaxing, she wore things like this. Even though Zara was a wolf and witch hybrid, she was mated to an Elemental. Not even a “regular Joe” of an Elemental. The King of Elementals. Their honorary mother, Sophia, had said on numerous occasions that the Goddess had more in store for them than they ever could realize. Especially, due to Zara being mated to the most powerful Elemental in the realms.

Her black hair was pulled back and her blue eyes were sparkling with humor as she watched her sister having a freak out. Her mate mark was on full display from start to finish. The beginning of it being a crescent moon on the ring finger on her left hand with vines across the back of her hand, expanding the length of her arm, and across her shoulder and into her chest. The vines were individually different elements and they all swirled into the crescent moon on her chest.

Atara was in front of and examining the mark that began in between her shoulder blades, across her shoulders, and ran down her arm to her wrist. The mark was gorgeous the more she stared at it but did not know how to fathom what it was. Instead of being rational, Atara was waving her arms around in the air and screaming as loud as she could to work off the anxious energy, she felt swirled around with her mind racing.

“WHY THE HELL DO I HAVE ANGEL WINGS MARKED ON MY BODY?!” She continued to scream.

“Sis, I do not think screaming about it is going to make you understand it. Maybe it is the Goddess marking you?” Zara was trying to reason with Atara, but it was not working.

“WHEN DID I EVEN GET THIS?”

“How would I know? It isn’t a mark on my body. You should have felt it as you were marked. Did you feel anything?”

  “NO!”

“Then I can’t help you.” Zara said while laughing.

“Stop laughing! This is serious! Why am I marked?”

“Again, how would I know that? The Goddess works in mysterious ways. She marked you for a reason.”

“This does not make sense? How can I be marked and never feel it?!”

Atara’s mind continued to race. Why am I being marked? What could the angel wings mean? She stared at the mark and then looked into herself to find her wolf’s gray eyes meeting hers. Do you know why I am marked? Her wolf did not say a word in return. The wolf continued to stare back in her eyes and flooded their bond with strength and encouragement instead. Thanks a lot. The black wolf huffed at her and pretended to be asleep. You are such a big help.

Outside of renovating the castle to remove all leftover energy from the ex-king, Zara had taken over the “War Room” and tacked up the prophecy that the Divination Twins had spoken the night of the battle.

From the blood and death of the battle

Comes forth a shadow that will rattle

The magic of four will be paused

A heart will lose the fight for their cause

The rise of the dead will be threatened

One must not fall and become The Weapon

The hunt begins for the children of the moon

One must fall or all is doomed

A killer's soul is tested by Fate

For all is saved by a bonded Mate

  Seven witches must avail

For the test that each follows a different trail

To find the treasure that they seek

For a kingdom will fall unless they keep

A hidden gem must be found

For the soul of elements has bound

The time will come when where wits are tested

When the moon is at its crescent

For all these souls are intertwined

All must bow at one time

When the moon is covered by darkness

We cast this evil into the ancient abyss

Raven, the High Priestess of the Lunar Coven, popped in often to advise and assist with breaking down the prophecy. Three weeks have passed, and they are no closer to figuring out what any of this prophecy could mean. Stress levels were high enough a
s it is, and then Zara had to point out the mark. What the hell could this mark mean?

As her emotions were going rampant as she looked at herself in the mirror, her obsidian black magic began to swirl around her. Zara cocked her eyebrow at her but continued to watch her. Atara looked in the mirror and noticed the gray in her aura that represented her wolf. She continued to examine her aura and noticed flashes of gold. Why the hell do I have gold in my aura?! Is it like Zara’s silver? Is this showing now that I have decent control over manipulating my magical energy? She would have to have a discussion with Raven about that. Maybe drag Zara into it and ask when did the silver show up in her own aura. “I give up. I have no idea why I am being marked. I guess I will just put it on the back burner. We have bigger things for us to figure out right now. Especially that prophecy.”

Tobias sighed on the bed behind her. She heard shuffling as if he were sitting up or possibly moving to get off of the bed. She looked over her shoulder and watched as Tobias slid off of the bed and walked over to stand next to her. His tall stature loomed over her. Atara tended to forget that Tobias stood four inches taller than her as well as a few inches wider. Glancing at her sister, she noticed that it was Zara’s turn to eye up her mate. Dear Goddess, I need to find mine. He was wearing his usual “dojo” style outfit of loose fitted pants and a shirt without sleeves. He also wore a belt that had yellow, red, blue, and green along it to stand for the elements that he wielded, air, fire, water, and earth. This time, he wore a moss green color and it helped bring out the green in his eyes. His mate mark proudly on display on his left arm that matched Zara’s in every detail, but it ran up his neck as well.

“Listen, you are an intelligent woman. Why are you ranting and raving about the room as if you do not understand what is happening?”

Atara playfully growled at him. “Get to your point.”

“It is a Mate Mark. You are marked with the same tattoo of your mate.”

Atara froze and her eyes fixated on the mark in the mirror. She swallowed and it felt hard in her throat. I have a mate? The thought alone excited and scared her at the same time. Where is he? WHO is he? She tried to sort through her memories from the last few weeks to single out any new males that she could have come into contact with that could possibly be her mate. The only ones that came to mind were wolves she had met from the Midwest Pack after she had been assigned to investigate a death within the pack bonds, met Zara, and unlocked memories that their mother spelled for them to forget. She spent the remaining time with the pack and her sister before the battle with Cyrus. During that time, she gotten to know the pack, but not once did she feel the pain of being marked. When did I get this mark? Who is my mate?!

Atara’s mind unraveled. Every male’s face that she had met over the past two and a half months played through her mine over and over again. Not a single male sparked a feeling within her. Then it dawned on her. My wolf might know! She looked into herself again to meet her wolf’s gray eyes once more. The black wolf stared into her own blue-green ones. Who did we come into contact with that could be our mate? Is this why you are so restless? Her wolf was silent for a few seconds. Atara could hear her heartbeat slamming into her chest while waiting for her wolf to respond. Yes, that is why I am restless. Atara blew out a breath she did not realize she was holding. Well… who is he?! The wolf went silent once more. UGH!

The emotions were too much for her. Restlessness of wanting to find him. Her heart hammering inside of her chest with excitement, yet anxiousness. I have a mate and I don’t know who he is! Her body began to shake. Her mind repeating those words over and over again. I need to get out of here.

With that thought, white light illuminated around her and her black wolf emerged. She darted out of the room as fast as she could. Nothing and no one stood in her way as she did. The bright sun almost blinded her as she ran out the front door of the castle. She did not stop, but instead picked up speed as she ran across the front of the grounds and out of the entryway. Atara did not know where she was headed and did not have a plan. She just needed to run to escape the feeling of falling down a swirling hole that was her mind at this time.

  Chapter Two: Zara

Zara paced in the throne room; her mind bogged down in anguish. It was not that she thought her sister was unable to defend herself. Clearly, she could. Zara would not have agreed to announce her as Enforcer if she could not handle the role. Atara had trained and fought for the honor of the title Enforcer all of her life. However, now that Zara earned the throne after ripping out the previous king’s throat, she was all too aware that there could be more enemies than they were aware of, ready to step out of the shadows when they least expected it. She also knew that the Sorcerer still had his webs cast out throughout the realms, biding his time to make the move that could kill them all if she was not careful.

With these dangers in mind, it was not smart for Atara to go running off alone. Where could she have gone? Why had she even run away? I thought she wanted a mate. Now she has one...AND SHE RUNS?! Zara felt her wolf perk up within her.

Did you expect her to just lay down and wait for her mate to show? That is not your way or hers. Neither of you wait on a man to show up to claim your heart. You run to them, stand before them, and beat them into submission instead. Her wolf said to her within her mind.

Zara snickered at her wolf’s words and answered her wolf. You are not wrong.

She thought back to the moment that she caged Tobias in a box of her magic and demanded that he talk to her about their own bond. I am sure she wants to do something similar so the need to complete the bond will be over, but does she even know who it is? That thought annoyed her. If the male knew he had a bond with his woman, why was he not claiming her?

Her thought was interrupted when the door of the throne room flew open. Marcus walked crossed the threshold with a look of annoyance on his face. He was the third in the pack now that Zara claimed the throne and Atara was her Beta. Zara wondered if being third settled with the old wolf. He was demoted from being second in command under Cyrus to third under the twins. He even helped train Atara to become Enforcer. In his role as third wolf, Marcus was now Zara’s advisor as he was to Cyrus. Except now, he seems to enjoy the job a little more.

He was an older wolf, older than four hundred years from what she knew. Zara had not met a wolf older than him and did not want to. Older wolves were known to be unstable and needed to be kept under close watch. So far, Marcus had not needed anything like that. It did not help that he was not mated. If left unchecked by a mate, a dominant wolf is prone to breakdowns and mental anguish. His hair was salt and peppered and his stomach was beginning to show his age. He looked as though he was in his sixties instead of twenties due to his old age, but that did not slow him down in the least. His green-brown eyes looked fierce as he marched into the throne room toward her. If she had not been the Alpha of all wolves… this man would be a terrible threat.

“Alpha, we have a problem,” he said when he reached her.

  “What kind of problem?”

“A problem that Cyrus began during his rule.”

Zara sighed with exasperation and facepalmed. Her shoulders tensed up and she gnashed her teeth together. After taking a deep breath, she eased her jaw and her shoulders and asked, “Oh Goddess, how many of his messes will I need to clean up?”

“Luckily, not that many. He may have issued edicts that did not make sense, but he did not leave too many messes behind. Cyrus tended to be quite paranoid that his people would kill him.”

“How ironic; his people did. I killed him to end his rule.”

“This problem is something he started to kill you. I am not sure if Cyrus is the direct link, but I do know that he did call on them to assist in assassinating you and Atara.”

  “Hunters.”

  “Yes, your highness.”

“None of that. It is either Alpha or Zara.”

  “Fair enough.”

“So elaborate on this Hunter prob
lem.”

“Alpha, this will be a problem for the Council. Should we call them together to discuss particulars”

Zara smirked at the thought of calling in her aunt. She knew exactly what he meant by requesting she notify her, as well. It was something she could do, and he could not. Magic. Zara’s aura flared around her with its pearlescent hue. Her wolf’s blue swirled within the pearl white and her newer Elemental magic was like bolts of lightning within all of it. Now that she had mastered her magic, she no longer needed to speak words to cast her spells. That would only be needed when she used extreme spells that used specific languages to cast.

Zara did a few movements with her hands and then threw her hands out as if she were tossing an object. The mixture of colors that was her magic burst from her hands into a ball and then it exploded into smoke. That smoke raced outside of the room to locate her aunt. The High Priestess of the Lunar Coven.

Zara knew that it wasn’t the norm for an Alpha of Werewolves to be related to the High Priestess of the Lunar Coven. Zara and Atara were special cases. They were hybrids. Their mother, Danni, was a witch within the Lunar Coven, which was the most powerful coven among the realms. When she met their father, Michael, he was the Beta of the Kingdom Pack, which Zara now ruled. They were soulmates, which was rare to begin with, but it was even rarer for soulmates to exist between two separate species. Raven was Danni’s sister, and their only living relative. Danni and Michael had been killed while fleeing Cyrus when Zara and Atara were young, aware that the prophecy involving their daughters would endanger them. That fateful day, the girls were separated in a quirk of fate. They ran in opposite directions, Atara ending up on Cyrus’s doorstep. Twenty years later they met and fought against each other since Atara was raised to uphold Cyrus’s laws and Zara was the product of a broken law: a hybrid child. It was their wolves that stopped them and showed them the memories their mother spelled them to forget. Danni cast the spell to ensure that the prophecy would be successful, and her children would survive.
